WEAKLAND....an outrage unto himself

y'know, and just yesterday our priest gave a lovely homily on how we are called to love all these men and leaders in the church who are giving such scandal to everyone lately, despite how much we may be angered by them.

quite honestly, until today, I wasn't particularly ANGRY....just annoyed, tired and confused.

Now I'm hot.

Let's start with our own home grown, rotten tomato: Weakland. Yeah, his book is no longer news. But every day there are more and more disgusting leaks from it. One's dismay grows into annoyance, which grows into outrage. It is simply inevitable after outrage that anger is going to follow. Just is.

Right off the bat he claims to be the first bishop to "voluntarily" come out and admit to being gay. WHAT?! you may not realize it, sir, but we all knew that when your big secret was "outed" for you amidst scandal. What was voluntary about it then? it was so involuntary that you gave ginormous wads of diocesan money to shut your ex lover up. BAH! talk about revisionism.

Then he actually blames the Vatican for taking too long to defrock the perverts and molesters amongst the clergy. NEWSFLASH!!!! why would they defrock someone whom YOU never suspended??? huh? So it's THEIR fault the abusers kept being reassigned and given fresh ground to contaminate with their filth? ARE YOUR FOR REAL???? why would they investigate or do one damned thing to men who were simply reassigned by YOU and told to keep working. Blasted pope....just can't read minds like he's supposed to hey?

After this he treats us to a lamentation over how the church views homosexuality....and how it is dead wrong in regarding it as "objectively disordered". (of course!!...this is, after all, Weakland talking and it was probably too much to hope that he'd have changed his leopard spots yeah? the church is ALWAYS wrong in his book) So he openly whines that it's unfair to expect those who have same sex attraction to never have any "physical, genital" relations. Yeah, that's what he said. Could've just said SEX but I guess that wasn't annoying enough.
So may I answer you dear sir?
YES!! the church expects all of her children to practice chastity: gay, straight, married, single.....priests, monks, bishops. Guess you didn't let those last ones stop you either, eh? Oh I forgot, they're wrong on that too.

Which lead straight into his confessing to having sex with several men once he was bishop. What on earth made you think ANY of us ever needed to know that? Do you ever stop vomiting your issues on us or are we going to be hearing from you forever? This is even worse than those "witnessing" talks where people tell you their past life but do so with too much detail and too little tact. Most have forgotten you really shouldn't reveal your past sins to others unless it can be done
A) without scandal and
B) can explain how you came to your current place of conversion.
WHERE IS THE CONVERSION HERE?? where, pray tell, is even the repentance? I'm just hearing the same self righteous, heretical, agenda pushing diatribe as before! UGH!!

He also makes the claim that the Church was finally on the way to making much needed changes in the 60's and 70's after the Vatican Council but JOHN PAUL II (may be be forever blessed!) squelched it. Well praise God he did! But this was, of course, wrong in Weakland's eyes as he felt that the church became too "centralized" and "doctrinally rigid" under JP II's leadership. (ie - the Church had a "pope" and truth is "unchangeable".) Guess both bother him.

In fact, his poor relations with the Vatican and the Pope over such basic issues of doctrine are the REAL reason, according to him, that he didn't contact Rome when he was first blackmailed. huh? So, let's read between the lines: you knew you were on superthin ice to begin with and you didn't want to rock the boat (lose your office?) by admitting to your latest fiasco? Oh no, he says, he just didn't want to be labeled gay in the "little village of Rome". Oh sure, that's much more believable. You never cared what else you were labeled as....that makes a lot of sense. He also says he was told by a "friend" that Rome would have wanted him to just cover it up. That was "the way she did things". And he uses, as an example, poor dead Bishop Montalvo, who exclaimed upon getting a phone call from Weakland when his past irrefutably blew up on the national news that "surely you're going to deny it!" That's simply the man saying "tell me it's not true!!" he wasn't TELLING him to deny it. But Weakland claims that HE took the higher ground in this and said he could deny the rape but not the fact that he'd had sex with him. HOW KOOKY!!

On and on he goes like that. THE WHOLE WORLD IS TO BLAME FOR ALL HIS MISTAKES AND SINS. But I've yet to read any release of this little tome where HE owns up to his own responsibilities. Let alone culpabilities.

Truly, when the scandal first broke I was hardly a fan of his, having lived the majority of my life listening to embarrassing and shameful dissent from his mouth. BUT I FELT SORRY FOR HIM. And I had sincerely hoped it would serve as a wake up call to amend his life. To take stock of things. Clearly, it hasn't. All that mortification for naught. What a shame!

NOW BEFORE THE USUAL HATE MAIL STARTS where people bash me for "chastising" bishops or priests let me say this. I already GET it. I already know that we should just quietly pray for them. We should take it to Jesus. We should let other bishops/priests "fraternally" correct each other.....yeah yeah yeah.....I know.

This is me loudly crying out for one of them (just ONE of them) to do so already. I think they've all forgotten that we are the victims in these ridiculous matters. We are the ones who are embarrased, scandalized and demoralized. Why? No one, in any position of authority speaks out. And when they do, it's mealymouthed and pointless. Why say anything?

In their "pastoral" concern for those who are scandalizing us, they seem to forget their "pastoral" concern for those BEING scandalized. Is it so hard to stick up for Jesus and the truth once you have a collar or mitre that you instead have to couch a bunch of wasted words in diplomatic gobblety gook....when did you all turn into politicans???

If I'm not supposed to publicly complain then do something yourselves. Stop wondering why your pews are empty! You all look like ineffectual hypocrites. Asleep at the wheel while the wolves prowl your own flock.

Try shepherding your good sheep now and then too hey? and not just the lost and unrepetentant ones.

this month they published a nude model on the cover depicting the Virgin Mary whose feast day was almost upon the Mexican people. They were just starting their novenas and pilgrimages to Our Lady of Guadalupe. On the front cover of the magazine are also the words 'Adoramos Maria' (we adore you Mary)

they now say they are VERY sorry if anyone was offended but they NEVER meant to depict the Holy Virgin. They were simply going for a "renaissance" look.

DUTCH PLAN "GAY" NATIVITY FOR CHRISTMAS

In Amsterdam, which wants to proudly label itself as the "gay" capital of the world, members of ProGay are holding a ten day Christmas festival promoting both the gay agenda and religion. GAYS PROTEST AT VATICAN OVER ITS OPPOSITION TO UN RESOLUTION DEALING WITH GAY RIGHTS

as usual, most of the world can feel or act a certain way - but if the Vatican or the Church comes out in support of something, then there's trouble.

I say in "support of something" because its opposition to this UN resolution dealing with gays has nothing to do with wanting discrimination or human rights violations against those with same sex attraction and everything to do with fully and completely supporting tradtitional marriage rights as they are. Moreoever, the Vatican is concerned with some of the phrasing in the document which would pressure countries into having to legalize same sex marriage against the popular will.

but the UN has it all locked up where no one can change the wording or debate certain phrases. You can either sign as a supporter or not sign (and thereby shut up and go away). But that is tantamount to forcing countries and nation states into throwing the baby out with the bath water. A concensus could be reached and a working resolution passed protecting gays from the arbitrary discrimination and even execution they face in some countries without violating others rights by forcing same sex marriage on governments.

this falls on deaf ears though, because the writers of the resolution want all or nothing.

so this is what you end up with: the vast majority of nations have refused to sign. In fact, only 54 have ---- compared with 192 who have not.

who gets the protests though?

well - one of the main organizers came out and clearly said that their hopes in holding these demonstrations in St Peter's square wasn't so much to get them to just sign the paper but to actually change their beliefs after two thousand years.

GOOD CATHOLICS USE CONDOMS

oh get over yourselves! really? what is most despicable about this new latino radio ad campaign is that it is produced by people who are not even practicing Catholics. And ringing in the fringe, leftist group "Catholics for Choice" (who will find that the only choice they're making is one for hell) doesn't give it any more authenticity than if Margaret Sanger stood up and wrote a treatise on what it takes to be a good nun. They've already jumped ship and now they're going to proclaim what Good Catholics should do if they're still on the boat?!

bah!

one ad has a latina abuela telling her grandson (who is gay, and disturbed when he just heard that "Good Catholics" can't use condoms) that she took care of him and if he loves that man (and wants to be a "Good Catholic" too) he'll wear a condom.

WHAT?!

where to even start with that one.....

there is another ad that goes on about how sex is sacred for Catholics and it means we ought to "take care of each other". Of course this means suiting up each and every time you have sex.

call me old fashioned, but if it is within the required covenantal, permanent sacrament of marriage and both partners are faithful to their vows..... do you wanna run past me again just why we need to treat the marital act as something requiring a HAZMAT team to protect the couple from each other?

ohhhhh - I forgot. This is for all those who just want to knock boots with whoever rubs past them.... man, woman, whatever. But still want to be Good Catholics!

what is most bemusing is how the writers announcing this joyous news had to include a little bit near the end where they lament how "our church" hasn't always been honest about sex and therefore there exists an embarrassed silence about condom use.

I went through the whole catholic school/CCD regime where I received a substandard, piss poor education that left me at just about the same level theologically as a heathen - but even I heard the message about contraception and condoms. One of the few things that did get taught! So show me this embarrassed silence! where is it?

unless you mean the "silence" that comes from not hearing what you want to hear. The message isn't what you want it to be and so therefore ....you don't hear it.

she then went on to make some mind-numbing claims:
1. God is prochoice
2. she's known some poor children who would've been better off to be aborted
3. other issues, such as poverty and economic injustice (note how it always come down to money with these women) are the real sins crying to heaven for vengeance.

apparently she made the last comment in such as fashion so as to leave one to conclude that she means abortion, in fact, is not one crying to heaven for justice.

seeing as it has been a week or so since I read it (and decided to make pumpkin pies rather than blow my top in writing a letter of my own) I will now attempt to put charitably into words the RAGE I feel at her audacity.

(....besides, the dear editors at the paper always seem to re-write my letters in such a way as to make them quite good, but lamentably not mine. They rid them of all the best parts and make me sound like the lady I still haven't managed to become.)

since we are arbitrarily making up what God finds most offensive I'll join that bandwagon and say that in my book, the latest and most infuriating sin crying to heaven is not economic injustice.....but so-called professed religious who so abuse their ministry and vocation as to use it to blaspheme the Lord. If I yet wore a veil (or for that matter, if you still did) I would tear it off in frustration.

but Pro- choice? no. he gave us free will that we His finite and limited creatures might choose Him ion love. But in and of Himself, the Almighty has no "choice" for evil in Him. He cannot be other than that which he is by His very nature, which is All Holy, All Knowing, All Powerful, Eternally Living Truth. He IS life. He IS Holiness.

How could He be "pro" choosing that which is evil, and therefore apart from Him? He cannot. He gives you the freedom to come to Him in love but that is not the same as approving your evil choices. There is no legitimate choice but to choose God. Any route that doesn't lead to Him isn't of Him and cannot claim authenticity because of some strange twisted idea that He is "Pro Choice"...simply because he gives you the freedom to actually have authentic love.

Archbishop Weakland Returns....

he is truly the gift that just keeps on giving......

whilst he held the office of Archbishop we in the Milwaukee archdiocese just prayed and prayed he'd be removed and/or silenced. When he finally resigned due to his own scandal with a former seminarian (who then blackmailed him for half a million dollars to keep quiet about their affair) I must admit I found myself somewhat sympathetic to his plight. I didn't like him and I still thought he was a huge blight and scandal on us all, having done almost irreparable harm with his leadership over those years....but I felt badly for him. All of us have been used by someone we loved and trusted at some point.

BIG BLEEDING HEART that I occasionally am, I felt sorry for how his sins were dragged though the public square. Not only had he erred and gotten us all screwed in the process but his embarrassment over his own being duped and used was now a public one, what with their old love letters trotted out in the papers and press.

how awful for anyone.

he'd go to churches afterwards and no one woudl sit by him. Some even tried to ask him to leave. I felt bad for him.

errrr....this video pretty much nixes that.

seems he was too wrapped up in his own affairs to properly tend those of the church. Anyhow - now his big mouth will cost us all more money.

Pope suspends bishop after he adopts woman

well now....back to India for more weird crap.

I read of this last week or so but there wasn't' enough info out at the time to warrant making this infamous column so I held mum.

today though more details have been released on the strange case of Bishop John Thattumkal. Apparently he met this woman on pilgrimage in Europe last April. Afterwards, the 58 year old bishop "adopted" this chick whom he claimed was 26. Now it comes out she's in her late 30's.

Now wrap your heads around this.

He apparently wasn't the first. She used to be under the "guardianship" of Fr. C K Joseph, a priest of the Thumpamon diocese. He has been stripped of all parish duties since the church took disciplinary actions against him in '05.

(in fairness...and do let's all be fair .....no one said she had anything necessarily to do with the trouble he found himself in. Although I'd venture to say you can't just "adopt" a grown woman and move her in without raising some eyebrows somewhere along the line.)

anyhow - the situation has now come home to roost in the bishop's house.

his defense is that he didn't feel he violated any laws. That he would "nullify" the adoption if the church wanted him to.

well now the church has suspended him pending an investigation.

mmm - no word on where Miss Sony Joseph is residing now.

I'm telling you there appears to be a way around everything lately hey? hahaha....
really - if you put the sheer goofiness of what he did aside, one can almost admire his balls-out way of just going about it. "Yeah man - just didn't see why I couldn't do it hey?"

I was right on the other bit though. She is related to the other priest (the who has been stripped of all his duties). She is his daughter. Apparently he had been in the orthodox church before he got booted out. Fine and well.

But since she's in her late 30's....and already has a real father.....errr....why does she need another again?

HOWEVER - that is exactly the opposite of what is going on at these masses. They are being used as platforms for the furtherance of a gay political agenda and to make inroads on changing church doctrine itself.

MORE INDIAN OUTRAGE: .... PRIESTS, FAITHFUL ARE FORCED TO CONVERT TO HINDUISM TO SAVE THEIR LIVES

first they were driven out of their homes, convents and parishes by week upon week of violence and bloodshed as Hindu extremists have gone on a killing campaign against all Christians.

Finally they wound up in refugee camps where one would think they'd be safe....

....however, the Hindu groups have access to them there as well and are forcing them to "freely" sign conversion papers where they "re-convert" to Hinduism. The penalty for not doing so is to be beaten with clubs and have their homes burned.

This is to show the faithful their "re-conversion". They are also forced to cooperate in burning down their own parishes and houses.

you tell me...maybe you have more faith in people than I do. I think it's 1.) INDIA ...and no one gives a rip and 2.) it's CATHOLICS.... so they care even less.

As I've been ridiculously busy, let me try to do a brief round up of what has crossed my desk or hit my ears in the last week or so.

rumours have swirled about this man for too long a period and on the off chance that the apparitions there are legit, this needs to be addressed and cleared up. I highly recommend reading the press release from the Bishop of Mostar regarding Fr Vlasic's canonical status, as it has a lot to say.

And for those of you who want to dismiss what the Bishop of Mostar has to say because you have a personal gripe with him (feeling he is 'too against' the alleged apparitions) may I remind you of two things:

ONE.) he is a bishop and has the authority to make the decisions he feels is best for the faithful and as such deserves respect (if you're from elsewhere) and obedience (if you're one of his flock)

TWO.) the Vatican has mandated he has to publish this information on Fr. Vlasic. The sanctions have not come from him but from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. IN yesteryear we'd have called it the Office of the INQUISITION, just so you get a feel for how much trouble he's in. We may have changed the name but, err.... they still do the same job as before. Anywhooo - he stands accused of (amongst other things) heresy, schism and sexually immorality "aggravated by mystical motivations".

yeah...I never heard of that one either!

anyhow he is accused of fathering a child with a nun and then refusing to leave his order to marry her but instead begging her not to expose him. After this, he then acted with disobedience to the order and his bishops and left for Italy where he set up a COED religious community that he named Queen of Peace where he propagated more odd doctrines. (mostly pertaining to these alleged apparitions)

I'm sure this doesn't sit well with hard core believers in Medjugorje since it was once claimed that the Virgin said he was a "living saint". Of course, this was back in the day when he was the "spiritual advisor" for the six seers.

it also comes on the heels of America finding out a couple years back of Fr Jozo Zovko's suspension as well. Another big supporter and "protector" of the seers way back when. He had been accused of sexual assault by different women who had confessed to him whilst on pilgrimage there and had his faculties suspended to hear confessions WAY BACK IN '89!! But he failed to stop hearing them, and when his disobedience was discovered he was suspended altogether.

Not that that stopped him from making many personal appearances at conferences and the like, either.

in fact, Fr. Zovko was scheduled just a couple years ago to come to America to speak at the NATIONAL SHRINE but the Diocese of Mostar had to fax info over to let the Bishop here know that he is not allowed to do so. And this is how the cat got out of the bag in America regarding him.

those crazy Franciscans seem to have troubles all over the world. (ummm....that's a joke, amigos --- please refrain from the hate mail as my box is rater full up this week, luv) I'm just saying....

anyhow - jury is still out for me (and apparently for the church) in regards to the alleged apparitions there. One must be very very prudent in discerning these things for oneself before they go over for a pilgrimage.

especially keeping this bit in mind from the Bishop:
"In this local Church of Mostar-Duvno, there exists something similar to a schism. A number of priests that have been expelled from the Franciscan OFM Order by the Generalate of the Order, due to their disobedience to the Holy Father, for years now have been forcefully keeping a few parish churches and rectories along with church inventory. They have not only been illegally active in these parishes, but they have also administered the sacraments profanely, while others invalidly, such as Confession and Confirmation, or they have assisted at invalid marriages. This type of anti-ecclesial behaviour is shocking to all of us. At the same time, this scandal of sacrilegiously administering the sacraments, especially of the Most Holy Body of Christ, must shock all the faithful as well who invalidly confess their sins to these priests and participate in sacrilegious liturgies. We pray to the Lord that this scandal and schism be uprooted as soon as possible from our midst.

Hindu extremists burned one nun alive and gang raped another while setting fire to the orphanage where they minister. A priest was also badly burned in the terror. In other locations another priest was badly wounded and two others abducted.

Professor and accomplice steal Host from London

Knowing full well that this post will bring the usual cadre of bigoted and hateful wingnuts back out of the woodwork, it still remains that such a heinous act as this needs to be brought to light and named for the evil that it is.

The Minnesota professor has purportedly been sent his consecrated host by someone from London. It was allegedly taken from the London Oratory (singlehandedly my favorite church in London....I used to travel all the way across town by various buses and then have to walk some more just to get there, as it was the only one I could find where things were done right....sad to say but true).

The priests there have called on everyone to make personal acts of reparation and have already started having public evenings of reparation and adoration to the Blessed Sacrament.

A young man stole the Host July 13th at a High Mass and posted a video where he showed it held "hostage" with a condom to protest the Church's stance on condoms in Africa. When he was good and done with it he then sent it to Myers who stabbed it with a rusty nail and then tossed it into the garbage.

The London Oratory (also called St. Mary's or the Brompton Oratory) has started asking parishioners to receive on the tongue and have been using the communion plates of late.

MAYBE PEOPLE WILL NOW WAKE UP AND SEE THE BENEFIT OF SUCH THINGS ONCE MORE --- AS THIS GOES ON ALL THE TIME! we just don't usually hear about it so publicly.

because they didn't like him "arbitrarily" assigning them to parishes. Most wanted to keep their suburban and country posts and not be sent to work in the cities. They also resented the fact that he has curbed their exorbitant and luxurious lifestyles financed off the backs of parishioners. They didn't like having a smaller pot to spend from and having to clear the larger amounts with a finance committee.

so...they are going starve themselves in front of a coffin they have inscribed with the name of their diocese.

Anyhow Bishop Weakland, unless he has done an abrupt about face, must be proud that a former Milwaukee woman (Janice Sevre-Duszynska) has the...err...balls to seek such a thing. This goes right along with his letter of complaint where he headed up 40 other US bishops in lamenting the fact that the Pope had the audacity to fulfill the function of his own office and publish "Ordinatio Sacerdotalis."

Guess he felt that he should have had his own heterodox views consulted first. Yeah, uh, he actually said that. Well - not the heterodox bit but still....he wanted to have the POPE consult HIM and those LIKE HIM who hold heretical views on just about every topic prior to exercising his right to teach and confirm his brethren.

He then wanted the Bishops Conference to respond "blow by blow to the documents of various kinds that come from Rome." Starting with that one.

He is responding to what happened recently at the University of Central Florida when a student walked out of Mass with the Host, holding it hostage for several days. two elderly nuns chain themselves to lamp post at vatican

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Two elderly Italian nuns chained themselves to a lamp post outside the Vatican on Sunday claiming they had been wrongly expelled from their cloistered convent and wanted Pope Benedict to help them return.

The two women, Sister Albina Locantore, 73 and Teresa Izzi, 79, remained in locks and chains on the edge of St Peter's Square for several hours, including the some 20 minutes while the pope delivered his weekly message and blessing.

The two women told reporters they had left their convent of Carmelite nuns in central Italy for several months for health reasons but when they returned the mother superior refused to let them back in the cloistered convent.

The mother superior accused them of disobedience and banished them, the nuns said.

One of the nuns held up a placard reading: "Your Holiness, we are neither prostitutes, nor violent, nor thieves, nor mentally infirm".

Another placard appealed to the pope to investigate their case.

"After 50 and 60 years of service to the Church they treat us like sacks of garbage, all because we supposedly did not obey our religious superior," Sister Albina said.

The Vatican was trying to arrange a meeting between the nuns and an official of the Vatican department that oversees convents.

The ANSA news agency cited articles from local media claiming the two women were evicted after an inspection by church authorities revealed the presence of a man in the convent. The articles, dating from 2007, suggested the man had extorted money from the convent through the nuns.

in truth, it's no laughing matter, but still....

a young Italian paraplegic man was told through his pastor that the bishop has said that that he cannot get married in church because he is permanently impotent from his condition. That's not the news in this piece. Everyone with a thinking cap knows that impotence is grounds for annulment. The whole thing would be invalid.

nope. The shocker is that the priest from his parish accompanied them to the "civil" ceremony that they went through (in Italy mind you). Now - this ceremony wold be no more valid for them than if they had it in church! First off, they are solely contracting a civil instead of a sacramental marriage, which for that reason alone makes it invalid for them as Catholics. So why is the priest (who knows better) giving his tacit approval just by showing up for it? Bad form on his part. Moreover - why is this even allowed civilly in Italy? Most civil laws (especially in the US, but in other nations as well) list impotence as an obstacle to a valid marriage. It is grounds for annulment both ecclesiastically and civilly.

aye aye...that's Italy for ya.

anyhow - apart from the priest showing up at what is, unfortunately, (as they do have my sympathy) a sham, the real outrage is how so many people have gone ballistic over this. The whole notion that the church "arbitrarily" makes up who can and can't get married has risen its ugly head once more.

so here is a reference from the Code of Canon Law (just so y'all can stop saying that they should have just gone to another church or a different diocese - it's the same everywhere):

"Antecedent and perpetual impotence to have intercourse, whether on the part of the man or the woman, whether absolute or relative, nullifies a marriage by its very nature." (Canon 1084.1)

the whole 'antecedent and perpetual' just means "prior" and "permanent" impotence is a nullifying factor in a marriage ^^^. It does not mean that after a marriage has been consummated (even once) and then someone becomes permanently impotent that it would be nullifed at that point, as that is not the case. The condition has to exist before the marriage is contracted. Moreover, it renders it invalid even if both parties are in full knowledge of the situation and desire to be married anyhow.

this probably won't stop all the naysayers as some are openly questioning what "impotence" really is. I guess for them it is all in the eye of the beholder. How very Clint-on-ian of them with the whole "what is the definition of "is"?"

so for those who want to fudge details here is some commentary from the Canon Law Society on this particular canon:

"Impotence is the incapacity of a spouse to perform a complete conjugal act. To be potent, a man must have a penis, be capable of maintaining an erection long enough to penetrate the vagina at least partially, and to ejaculate there; a woman must have a vagina and be capable of receiving the erect penis."

if that doesn't make it perfectly clear then you have bigger fish to fry than even worrying about such things.

It is a shame, but a fact, that he is not eligible for marriage. To anyone. Ever. Feel sorry for him. Feel sorry for her. But let's not rail against the law which is there for a perfectly good and sensible reason. Marriage needs to be consummated. Even according to the state. The two of them cannot. I suppose they could live out their lives as brother and sister (as they'd have no other option anyways) but they can't portray themselves as a married couple as they are not.

now if you follow and believe the doctrine of the church, especially as it regards homosexual activity, you are guilty of hate crimes.

all the clarification in the world that the church does not believe in discrimination, denying the rights of or in even condemning the personal who has homosexual attractions falls on deaf ears. If a reasonable person took the time to really investigate (instead of playing at it) what the Catholic Church teaches they would find that the person with homosexual tendencies is NOT held culpable for any same sex attraction they may have. The church doesn't go round touting that it is their "choice" and they're a terrible person who is going to hell for such a sin as "choosing" what one would be nuts to choose. hardly! No one sins by an attraction, regardless of what that attraction is. No matter how disordered it may be. You can't sin if where there's no choice. And there is no choice over some of our crazy attractions or proclivities. Only when you act on them does it become a matter of exercising your free will.

Well - that isn't good enough. Because what they really want is for all the religious denominations to fall in line and accept gay "marriage". To give them their tacit approval and blessings, if you will.

well - that won't happen.

so until then people will continue to be "investigated" and "penalized" by the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC).

what about the human right to freely practice the religion of one's choice? mmm - guess not, eh? special interest groups have a greater sway. It's more important that they can foist their beliefs and ideologies on the world at large and force them to concur even though most disagree with it. There's no freedom of choice there!

If a priest stands up and says something is wrong, those who disagree can walk away or choose a different faith if they are that bothered by it. There's no penalty against them. No one will ostracize them or toss them in jail. Where's the fallout from dissent? there isn't any!

But if a gay rights activist wants to say something is right, then everyone better tow the line or they will be charged with hate crimes and either sit in prison or pay ginormous fines.....and more often than not, they'll do both.

ohhh.....don't worry! insanity and unreasonableness isn't the privilege of the Great White North, alone. It'll eventually rear its ugly head here as well.

And when I write something on one of my blogs, I have more than once re-edited things before posting them in the light of past, well... spankings. It's easy to go too far when one is making a joke. Really. There's a fine line between funny and mean.

So whatever is said about this guy online can ultimately only serve to help him, umm .... reconsider his ways.

for those around the nation who may not have heard of this particular priest, his name and face are not at all unfamiliar to those in the Midwest as he regularly makes the news just about every year for some outlandish action.

he is, in short, an embarrassment.
which is a shame because his outrageous and sometimes egregious beliefs and comments overshadow any good that he has done in his vocation. And he has done some good. I'm not gonna take that away from him. HE is gonna take that away from himself. Because when one's "good works" are outweighed and overridden by the magnitude of crazy, scandalous associations and actions, what good are they?

and he has a history chock-full of craziness.
that's the kindest way I can put it.

not only does he butt heads with his bishop on some of the most basic of doctrines but he flagrantly breaks the rules of not engaging in politics. Most priests accept that they cannot publicly endorse from the pulpit a particular candidate. They can educate the people on what is important to look for in a politician's platform (from a moral and doctrinal view) but they cannot go and stump for one. Laity have to do that themselves and the church cannot get her hands dirty with such things. Look, we've learned the hard lesson of what happens when you mix temporal and spiritual power, no? Why would we go backwards?

No, not only does he not get that, but he goes one further and invites the politicians and "social activists" to speak at his church themselves. And not really upstanding individuals either but those who espouse views which are in direct opposition to the doctrine of the church.

Pope cracks down on feminist theology and finally comes out and says that anyone baptized with "alternative" terms like Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier would find that their sacrament was invalid and would have to undergo baptism once again. Amongst other things.

anyhow - they like those terms because they feel the normal formula is sexist and chauvinistic - so they are now ranting that "he isn't our pope"

ohhhhh....he wasn't anyway, was he? when was the last time you acknowledged his authority on anything? What he said rings quite true. Namely, that those who espouse this theology try to remake the church and Christianity into an utterly foreign and "other" religion.

anyhow - to those who think this isn't common (the alternative terms) or that they've never seen this done let me offer just once example:
A certain Dean at Marquette University always has a certain Jesuit up there come and celebrate Mass in her home for all of the attendees of her annual Christmas fete. A celebration which one is relieved that they are invited to (as it bodes well for their standing) but which, ironically, no one ever really wants to attend.

Anyhow - does this priest start out his "mass" with the sign of the cross??? no...no...not quite.

He uses the creator, redeemer, sanctifier method. If that was the last of his innovations one could say, well the mass wasn't licit but it was valid and chalk it up to being symptomatic of the problems in the church. However - the ENTIRE MASS is made up. oh yes --- he writes his own version from stem to stern. Even the consecration isn't was it's supposed to be.

so - where does one go from there?

one who hadn't attended before made a funny comment after experiencing this "mass". She goes, "does this mean that our Christmas Mass obligation hasn't been fulfilled?"

hahaha...yeah. I think it means a lot more than that but I'd start there.

So what the Holy Father says about those who are deeply into this feminist/gender neutral thing trying to remake the church into a completely different religion is quite accurate. It never ends with just those words. The whole meaning of things is corrupted.

By the by - I'm not picking on Marquette....there are good professors and good Jesuits up there. But if one is honest, it has been a LONG TIME since the university has consistently turned out a Catholic product (ie - students who have, as a whole, strengthened and retained their faith rather than losing it - who are more knowledgeable and committed to their faith because of their education, and not in spite of it)

all the revelations of priests shacking up in these long term relationships is weird. Nothing new, but weird all the same that so many stories have come out at once.

We all just heard this last week of the sentencing of the Filipino priest in Virginia who got caught embezzling over $600,000 to pay for his secret family. He'd been "married" to her so long they had kids in college! good grief! well worth the read! if it wasn't so sad it would almost be funny. Just bizarre circumstances. Baffling to me how none of these men were caught before now. How is that possible?

this simply renews the sentiments I had before when a number of priests from our diocese complained and lamented to the Bishop that his new mandates were too imposing. He wanted to know what they were up to and when they were up to it. And so he had someone come up with some guidelines and rules to help tamp down any potential future scandals. Amongst them being that they couldn't simply take off on vacation with who knows who to who knows where to do who knows what. They had to inform the diocese of this. *shrugs* No real biggie in my book. Their property and offices would be liable to search IF (and only if) they were under suspicion of any illicit activities...deblah deblah deblah. Various things of this sort. All of which seem fair to me.

But not to them. Oh what a hullaballoo. I think they forget they are not employees who can form a union to go on strike (as much as some want to claim they will), nor are they their own men any longer. If one swears obedience to a bishop then one also has to have some accountability to him. So what? Keep your nose clean and what do you care if you have to tell him you're going to take a vacation in November? If someone points a finger at you wrongly and accuses you of getting up to no good and the diocese searches your stuff WHO CARES? ...won't this exonerate you?

but so many feel it s a JOB these days. They have certain "worker's rights" that don't really apply for them here. And you find this coming out of the mouths, 9 times out of 10, of the ones who are misbehaving. Look at all these priests we just spoke of at the top of this post. I think just paying what is owed in those cases isn't enough . There should be some punitive damages involved as well.

but maybe I'm too harsh. Look - I don't care that he had this whole double life with her. That's on his own soul to contend with. I care that he systematically bilked congregants out of their church contributions all those years....that is malicious. Carrying on with her is wrong, yes, but one could see how it would be done in weakness, not malice. It is the embezzlement that shows his real nature.

I submit this post even though I got a letter over the weekend chastising me how I am lambasting clergy these days. That's not wholy true. This page has been revamped to be concerned with outrages in relation to the church, rather than just any current event which caught my eye or got my goat. It would be unfair to only list outrages committed against the church by others and gloss over the foolishness that goes on amongst our own.

St Pat parade organizers refuse to reschedule despite Holy Week cancelling the feast day out

Most of us who are Irish can't understand the fanaticism some of our brethren go to when it comes St Pat celebrations. A certain very Irish Pigheadedness seems to come over them and they simply cannot be brought to reason. One needn't scratch their head over the never ending Troubles when they accept the sad fact that there is a larger-than-we-care-to-admit contingency of us who are seemingly beyond help!

The very idea, though, of the St Patty's Parade going on during Holy week even when the feast day itself is not to be celebrated takes the proverbial cake. It RARELY happens that this popular saint's day falls during the observance of this sacred time, so this isn't something that this particular generation of parade organizers have had to deal with before. Nevertheless, not having come across this issue themselves is no excuse for this perplexing defense of partying on despite repeated calls to reschedule:

"We aren't scared to do things that aren't fitting to, say, 'peace on earth' and all that," said John "Wacko" Hurley, who organizes the parade for the Allied War Veterans of South Boston. "We all want peace, but our obligation is supporting the armed forces. So, nope, we don't have any problems with that."

HUH?!

what does that have to do with anything. Man! makes one think that the drinking has already begun. And I am being generous in letting it go at that.

Most of the nation's major parades, I am glad to say, did the right thing and followed their Bishop's requests to reschedule either before or after that week (if they felt they absolutely couldn't cancel altogether).

Which brings us to another point - why NOT cancel?

While the timeing of it is odd this year (what with Easter falling so early this year) it does happen with regular frequency that St Pat's will fall on a Friday during Lent when Catholics are bound to abstain from meat. And yet, you get all these die hards who rush out and bother their bishop to get a dispensation so they can go ahead and gorge on corned beef nonetheless.

That baffles me....

how often do you really eat corned beef anyhow? Once a year? Will you miss it that much if you can't this time? Why not make something else? I mean, real Irish rarely eat corned beef so what's the big deal?

It's all in need of an attitude check. St Pat's has not only become a display (on its best days) of overt national and ethnic pride but has been hijacked (on its worst) into being a secular excuse to get trashed beyond all recognition and throw extravagant drinking parties.

perhaps those who wish to 'honor' the saint come hell or high water and refuse to cede ground here to the observance of Holy Week should ask themselves honestly: What would St Patrick think of all that?

People say to me, give it up already, what is your big issue with celibacy? And I must say, I don't have one. I DON'T CARE!! however, the gripe I do have is that lifting the discipline is never enough with these people. You find these yokels always want something more, something else. And it is a something which IS impossible.

I see men, who are to be spending the short span allotted to them on earth ministering to the people of God, wasting an awful lot of time and energy barking up the wrong tree trying to change things which CAN'T be changed. Trying to gain sympathy for impossible things by tugging on people's heartstrings over the celibacy issue. Which, I admit, a lot of laity feel sorry for them over. It may be misplaced compassion but they get it from them anyhow.

it leaves me with such a bad taste in my mouth simply because it smacks of those politicians who want X passed in Congress. A reasonable Bill. But then they tack on all these other stuff as well that others aren't as keen on or which are outright harmful to the nation.

what is it about nudity that screams PROTEST? I mean, really, do the protesters find their naked bodies terribly offensive? do they think I will? or do they actually believe that this will make their cause (whatever it is this week) look more...err...credible?

they seem to like to do it in front of cathedrals these days so church goers have to shuffle around them or over them or through them to get inside. They like to clutter up the stairs or entry ways to the buildings so as to "make a point".

what that point ultimately is is usually lost in the silliness. Which is too bad, as some of these groups actually have messages that should be aired on a wider level.

this time round, it is the animal rights activists again. I don't have an issue with that. I support the humane treatment of animals. I still eat them, but I'd like to see more humane conditions to both raise and slaughter them. Absolutely. The current livestock market is very bad. Very poor methods are tolerated. Both by consumers and regulators.

but these types of showdowns convince neither of those parties. the real cruelty prevention is done with:
A.) showing the public at large what the problem is in an INTELLIGENT, ADULT fashion and why it matters and
B.) getting the public's support and pressure on legislators to change the current laws.

this isn't done by dousing yourself in fake blood and blocking access to a church while your naked in the cold. Not that any of them asked me but I'm just trying to give some friendly advice.

I think they're onto something with protesting the bullfighting and the cockfighting and all that garbage. Culture has to give way to morality at some point. No matter what the tradition is. But this isn't the way to stop it.

fur? leather? well....we may have to part ways on that bit. I support using the whole animal and not wasting its life simply on making a coat, yes but I also support the right of a man to buy good, long lasting leather shoes. gheeshh....there is a limit.

This too needs to be handled with an eloquent , informative address to society as to what the problems are in the fur and leather goods industry. Because there ARE real problems. Does it need to be banned entirely? NO. But changes do need to be made.

I get a kick though out of all the people who just like to drop drawer and think this will get folks to see the light. What they see is some naked, over earnest, misguided kid who is blocking private property.

Now explain that to me....you can't pray (fully clothed mind you) across the street from an abortion clinic but you can rant and rage in the nude whilst smeared in fake blood in the doorway of a cathedral.

The new leader of this group, Archishop-elect Mbewe, claims that the UN and African Union charters gives them the freedom to worship how they please and to found whatever churches they desire.

I had no clue that the UN had anything to say with how the Catholic Church conducts her affairs. errr....they're her affairs.

he goes on and on in his statement about how the men are forced into this and Christ never made it compulsory, it was voluntary. And how none of these men were able to do it and how they were secretly running around with women anyhow. And moreover, how these priests need to rise up now and live out their God given mission (?) as married men.

well excuse me if I sound blunt but I highly doubt the church put a gun to a man's head and said not only will you be a priest but you'll do it in this fashion. I see no force. No foul. They chose to serve like that.

Now.... if they wanted to live with delusions of changing things that is a suffering they brought upon themselves. Even if the discipline was lifted it wouldn't affect them as once a man is ordained he can no longer marry. Even in the Eastern rites of the church which allow married priests. If you've no wife when you become a priest you can't decide to get one later. You, uh, missed that boat.

ahhh well.

But what can you expect from a minister who takes his marching orders from the UN? one would think he'd be getting them from a more appropriate authority....

Here is another sad week where the news on the priesthood is sad. Disturbing and sad. It's also another week where I, in my conceit, feel that I need to comment on it and share my opinions and/or snap judgments. Which is likely wrong of me as well.

Actually, I don't judge either man. God knows the things I've done in my life. Or could do under other circumstances. I am fully aware of what I'm capable of. There's no real stone throwing here. At least not at them.

FIRST ONE UP is the local milwaukee priest charged with drugged driving and cocaine possession.

now, I actually feel sorry for the guy. Really. That sucks. It sucks to be enslaved in an addiction. It sucks to suffer from depression. It sucks to get caught in such a public way where you just know you are a huge scandal.

err...which he is.

but it's also kind of a scandal that the diocese alludes to the fact that they knew he had such problems and had been "working with him on it". GREAT! fantastic! I think they should work with him...get him back to health and back to work. Seriously. But don't burden him down with the responsibilities of a huge parish and think he isn't going to crack. No one can recover that way.

when the other bishop retired (amidst his own sad headlines) there were all these desk job priests who were put into parishes. With much protest.

I'm thinking of another one in particular, besides this poor fellow, who just couldn't adjust. Every day his whole homily consisted of how he was living in hell and had never wanted this and how he had always thought he'd retire from his post at the cousins center. Had a nice little lakefront condo that he'd lived in with a boat and whatnot and he really didn't want to be a parish priest in what is now a ghetto.

well what did they expect would happen to these poor priests who were just tossed out there into the real world again?

a depressed and overworked man is a train wreck waiting to happen.

I personally feel we've had enough of those lately. *shrugs*
maybe I'm alone in that.

I see no issue with putting these guys to use. That's not what I'm saying. I never have understood men who pursue the priesthood and get ordained but never want to do anything priestly. They want administrative jobs. They want to serve on boards and commissions and councils and conferences but not the every day nitty gritty ordinary life of a priest. It's beneath them. So when they're tossed into it suddenly, after a years of something else, trouble can come out the other end.

That's all I'm saying. That someone up there in the diocese should have seen the potential for this sort of thing being more likely in these sorts of situations than others.

not that any man is safe from addiction. Too much work, too little relaxation, FAR too much isolation.....they get depressed. Who wouldn't? it's a short fall after that. Whatever their 'drug' of choice is. Everyone knows you can be addicted to almost anything.

ummm...this is the very type of behavior that was outlined for us in our college psych courses that was to red flag society to deviant personalities. Sociopaths. Potential sexual perverts. In really bad circumstances, all three rolled into one.

UN blames Catholic Church for spread of AIDS

ohhhhhh, just when you think you can squeak by within the rules of only ONE outrage a week, another one begs to be aired.

as usual, the Catholic Church is marked by the all-wise U.N. as the SOLE REASON that AIDS is growing in under developed countries.

First it was Africa, and we had some fringe bishops calling on Rome to change its stance on the use of condoms within marriage. NOW it's latin america.

All our fault, of course, because we hold that marriage and people have a certain inherent dignity that needs to be upheld.

does anyone ever want to stand up and lay the blame at the feet of those who use drugs and share syringes. Did anyone put a gun to their head to do this? I say this as a person who has innumerable friends in the music industry who are deeply hooked. I am not unsympathetic. I'm just saying that THEY don't blame anyone else! how crazy!

but no no no....don't say that. Don't blame people's own risky behavior. They're victims of course. Not that anyone ever finishes that statement and says they are victims of themselves. Someone has to be to blame and it's usually the church.

How about getting to the root cause of why AIDS is spreading. Sinfulness. Not to sound like Billy Graham or one of those other televangelists who like to blame every catastrophe that ever happens on man's depravity.....because I don't believe man IS depraved.

However - one must put forth the prospect that it is sinfulness that is spreading this. Infidelity within marriage bringing the disease home to an innocent party. Unchastity among the unmarried where they hop from one partner to the next like they're changing hairstyles. Rampant drug use at every age level. 'Alternative' lifestyles which seem to grow in scope and number with every passing day. Superstition amongst the uneducated leading to such unspeakable behaviors that one is just aghast at what man dreams up.
(I'm thinking of the notion in Africa where men, infected with HIV, believe that if they can bed a virgin they will be cured. So countless girls are raped (and thereby infected) every year. Children. BABIES. Because, frankly, they are running out of healthy older virgins. So many girls now have inherited the disease from their parents. And these man will torture the youngest and most helpless children...those who are still nursing....in the bizarre belief that they will be healed of this plague.)

but no.....this isn't the cause!

It's the Catholic Church's ban on condoms. Of course. BAH!

according to the almighty UN we should just lay down and say that sin should have no consequence. People should be 'free' to do what they want and not suffer any ill effects from what is unhealthy and sinful behavior. There lies man's utopia, yes? We should just shut up about trying to point out the right path. The one that would keep man healthy, happy and alive.

when in the story of the Fall, our first parents were forbidden to eat the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, it wasn't to limit their freedom. They were free. And happy mind you. There was no just cause to rebel. But the "knowledge of good and evil" implies the authority to decide what was good and evil....and this is a divine prerogative alone.

But - they would die.

the UN, in the same way, wants the world to believe that the Church has some hidden, backwards dream of wiping out the planet with HIV by forcing everyone to proscribe to its 'antiquated and sexist doctrines'.

but...uh...no one ever questions what the U.N.'s dream is, do they?

Surely, whatever guiding principles and forces lead them, they must be for the good of mankind, yes? but if the Church stands for life, truth, hope and salvation.....and the UN is always fighting the Church......what does that mean they really want for mankind?

The reception of Holy Communion is a sign of unity among the faithful that we are of one mind and spirit. We all believe and belong to the same Body (ie - CHRIST). If one flagrantly opposes His Church's teaching and mocks His ministers and followers why then would they want to pretend that they share that unity?

Look - if a person neither lives in America nor believes in the ideals our constitution and its laws are based on then one couldn't call themselves American. One wouldn't even want to, right?

In the same fashion, if one doesn't believe Christ, his words, his Church or his doctrine....nor do they live in such a way as to show they are attempting (even in a failed manner) to adhere to his teachings, then how can they call themselves Catholic?

They cannot.
Because they are not.

and THAT is why they are to be denied Holy Communion.

Not because they dress up as "queer nuns".....that doesn't matter in this issue. What matters is that they openly and flagrantly admit to neither believing in nor following Christ.

They can call themselves whatever they want. The civil courts would probably even back them up on it as a person is free to form whatever group or organization they wish. So if they desire to think they are very clever and very funny and create an "order" of "queer" nuns, even though they are neither female nor are binding themselves by real vows to live lives of sacrifice and service to their church (err...paramount in all of those being that of OBEDIENCE)........THEN LET THEM!! They only look foolish and hate-filled.

calling themselves "nuns" and wanting to be recognized as such isn't the point. You can make up any group you want BUT YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE DOCTRINE OF THE FAITH. And you cannot expect the Church to recognize you as anything but the impostor you are when you present yourself for communion as though you were one of her flock.

Look - we don't let the Lutherans, Anglicans or Presbyterians share the Eucharist with us - and they are holy, faith-filled brothers and sisters who lead morally upright lives. But they are not in full union with us yet in regards to doctrine or how we understand what the Eucharist is. Everyone can see how that (while unfortunate) makes sense.

But we are to stand by and say nothing as these men "belly up" to the communion rail whilst shoving in our faces the very fact that they have removed themselves completely from the mantle of the Church???

San Francisco Archbishop Responds After Caught on Video Giving Communion to Gay Men Dressed as Nuns

SAN FRANCISCO, October 10, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Last Sunday, October 7, San Francisco Archbishop George Niederauer said Mass at a Catholic church in the heart of the gay Castro district. Most Holy Redeemer parish has a lamentable reputation of having caved in to demands of homosexual activists. One group of homosexual activists which until recently operated regularly out of the parish was called "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence", men who wear makeup and dress as Catholic nuns. Archbishop Niederauer was filmed giving two members of this group Holy Communion Sunday.

The "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence", whose motto is "go and sin some more" and describes itself as a "leading-edge order of queer nuns," planned to hold regular bingo games at Most Holy Redeemer parish until Catholic activists reported the plans to the press. A local homosexual newspaper, the San Francisco Bay Times, reported that the events at the parish included sexually explicit activities. Prizes included porn DVDs and "sex toys" the paper said.

Since then the parish has refused the "Sisters" use of its facilities. However, according to local Catholic activists some of the "Sisters" continue to attend services at the church.

Anthony Gonzales, president of St. Joseph's Men Society, a group which has taken action to curb outrageous anti-Catholic activities within local Catholic churches, spoke with LifeSiteNews.com about the incident Sunday. Gonzales said that his group decided to film the event and "let the evidence speak for itself."

"This was such a blasphemous action within a Catholic Church by an Archbishop representing Roman Catholicism it would make Judas blush," Gonzales told LifeSiteNews.com. "To hand over our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to known practicing and promoting sodomites, in the middle of a 'gay-friendly Mass' is beyond the pale.

Gonzales said his group is calling on the Vatican to take action. "The Vatican has to react to this and has to remove him from office," he said.

Gonzales' group has not yet been able to post their video online. However, a separate video of the event has been placed online by the Catholic blogsite Quamdiu Domine and is available here

"At Most Holy Redeemer Church Oct. 7, I noticed no protest, no demonstration, no disruption of the Sunday Eucharist," said Archbishop Nierderauer. "The congregation was devout and the liturgy was celebrated with reverence. Toward the end of the Communion line two strangely dressed persons came to receive Communion. I did not see any mock religious garb. As I recall, one of them wore a large flowered hat or garland."

The "Sisters" were heavily involved in the recent Folsom Street Fair which in addition to full nudity and public sex acts by homosexuals involved included a mockery of the Last Supper with Christ and his apostles represented by leather-clad homosexuals. Bishop Niederauer stressed that he had denounced the poster. "In the past when the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence or other groups have ridiculed the Church I have denounced their actions," said the Archbishop. "Only a week ago, Catholic San Francisco carried my remarks condemning the derisive use of the Last Supper on a poster printed by some other local group."

Americans for Truth, an Illinois based national pro-family group has joined in the call to have Vatican authorities made aware of the scandal. Miller Brewing still in hot water

Miller may have pulled their name off a promo poster for the Folsom Street fair at the last minute (and with a ton of pressure) but that hasn't stopped them from sponsoring what can only be called blatant anti-catholic bigotry.

neither has it stopped the ongoing boycott of their products.

While the poster depicted a mocking and blasphemous rendition of the Last Supper, it was hardly the only swipe at what is for over a billion Catholics a most sacred event.

No, in fact, the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" were hired as part of the entertainment once again this year and held (among other things) a "Last Supper" of their own which was equally offensive.

Not to be outdone, other fairgoers routinely dress as half naked priests who run around committing ultra-lewd acts on others in public (all of which would be chargeable offenses anywhere else) and others parade around as Christ himself, albeit one who's into kinky sex and self-torture. This is above and beyond the usual melee of public nudity and sado-masochistic acts.

You can't pray across the street from an abortion clinic in this country but you can have giant glass sculptures of genitalia on display and revelers engaging in all manner of sex right there at a city-sanctioned street fair.

To top it off though, proceeds were parceled out to the "sisters" as one of the fair's beneficiaries this year. To 'further their mission'. Of what? more blasphemy and bigotry?

And THIS is why the boycott continues. It's an outrage that such a hateful thing is even allowed in this country, yes - but it's also an outrage that Miller refuses to stand down on this. A number of their board members ARE Catholic. Not that one can tell right now from their inaction, but still....how offensive!

Until they publicly promise to no longer sponsor anti-catholic, anti-christian events such as this the boycott remains. And that goes for Coors or whoever else they merge up with too.

I say this not as a person who believes in a lot of boycotting. I don't. I am usually of the mindset that a boycott typically says more about those doing the boycotting than those being boycotted. However, there are exceptions that need to be made every now and then.

yes - this page was deleted.
well, not the address but all the past 2 years' content.

and no, I did not save/archive any of the old posts.
If you missed the month or so when folks were able to save the past OUTRAGE OF THE WEEK articles, I'm sorry, they're all gone.

we are starting over on this page.
It will still list outrages, just not the kind it has in the past (which was pretty much wide open as far as topic went). This OUTRAGE page will be more focused in subject and scope. well - you'll see when it's finished.

so until then this page is officially under new construction (even though I hate it when people leave those blurbs that say that very thing.) anyhow - it'll be up and running soon. please be patient and check back.
